The Japanese Azalea has long been a favorite of bonsai enthusiasts.   As with many flowering bonsai, it looks beautiful when in bloom.   Unlike many, it also looks beautiful when not in bloom due mainly to its small leaf size and good branching.  Be careful when wiring.   The wood is rather brittle.  Azaleas are acid loving.   Use extra peat moss in your potting mix and use an acid plant food like "Mir-Acid" or "Peters Acid-Greening" or an iron supplement 2 or 3 times a year.
