We normally do not offer Japanese Maples for sale before they leaf-out, but this spring has been cool here in the northeast. It's Mid April, and the buds are just beginning to swell.  A number of our customers have asked that we put the Maples on the site without leaves, (many have said that they prefer to see the branch structure without leaves) and considering that Maples are best to repot before the leaves are fully out, we decided to do just that.  All the following Maples have either new leaves, swollen buds, or buds that have just opened.  The photos were taken on April 13th, and we anticipate that they will be in full leaf in 2 to 3 weeks depending on the weather.

Japanese Maple is one of the largest, most varied species of tree used in bonsai cultivation.  Its small leaf size, and wide variety of colors, added to its branching and wood growth characteristics make it a great candidate for addition to any collection.
