Blood meal is one of the highest organic sources of nitrogen.   It completely soluble in water, and can be used as a liquid fertilizer or mixed dry with other dry ingredients.  Nitrogen is the most commonly lacking element in soil, and when low or missing, plants & trees will yellow.
